What age group is the coaching for?

Coaching is designed for children aged 5 and above, from early learners discovering how the pieces move to teenagers preparing for tournaments.

Is prior chess experience required?

Not at all. During the free demo class the coach assesses where your child is today and recommends the right starting level, from complete beginner upwards.

Can we book a demo class first?

Yes. Every family starts with a complimentary 30-minute demo class, with no obligation to continue.

How are the sessions conducted?

Sessions are live and online. Students see the coach, move pieces on an interactive board, solve puzzles and review their own games with feedback.

How do we know which level to start at?

Take the quick level quiz for a first idea, then the coach confirms the right level during the free demo class.

How long does each level take?

It depends on the child. Students advance once they have shown the level’s skills in practice games and assessments, so some move faster and some take a little longer.

Can a child skip a level?

Yes. Students who already know a level’s material are placed higher from the start, or move ahead once the coach sees they are ready.

Are the levels linked to age?

No. Levels follow skill, not age. Children of very different ages can be at the same level, and that’s fine.

Who can join a camp?

Camps are open to children aged 5 and above. During enquiry we check your child’s level so they are grouped with players of similar strength.

Does my child need to be enrolled in regular coaching?

No. Camps are open to everyone. They are a great way to try our coaching, or to add focused practice during school holidays.

Yes, camps run live online, just like our regular classes, so your child can join from home.
